...six sweet things!
Well hello there!
Here are six sweet things from my life lately...
1. A thoughtful gift from my niece.
My sister's whole family drove me to the airport to catch my flight back to San Francisco a few weekends ago. On our way out the door, my nine-year-old niece Ella ran into the pantry and grabbed me crackers. "You might need them," she said, handing me the bag. Unpacking the next day, I saw them, remembered her thoughtfulness, and couldn't help but smile.
2. Free airport goodies.
Speaking of snacks, there's a basket of free goodies and bottles of water (I repeat, free) on a table next to the boarding gate at my tiny hometown airport. How sweet is that small-town touch? (I grabbed Skittles.)
3. This sign on the sidewalk in Chicago.
On my way back to the hotel after my Chicago sunrise moment, I passed this sign in front of an apartment building and was like, Yeah, duh, we should definitely do that. How sweet is it that someone made this simple reminder?
4. Jumping into Lake Michigan.
After one morning run in Chicago, my friend Terence and I jumped off the Lakeshore Path into Lake Michigan—it was so cold, but also invigorating! I felt refreshed for the rest of the day. It was a great reminder to jump into a big body of water whenever possible...even if that water is only 59 degrees.
5. Train travel.
On the first leg of my trip back home, I met my family in Chicago to see Waitress (such a beautiful musical). Afterward, we got lunch at a delicious create-your-own stir-fry spot and then hopped on a regional train toward Michigan. Train travel is THE. EFFING. BEST. It's so comfy and cozy—the seven of us on one long bench chatting, snacking, and listening to music for two hours. I wish it lasted longer...but not this long. :)
6. A reader's morning coffee moment.
This sweet note is from Amee, who emailed me after my last sweet things post:
Every morning there is about a 30-minute window where the light comes through my window in just the right way to create the most magical coffee moment on my couch. It is that moment that starts my day off just right!
Do you have a sweet thing (or six) to share? Send 'em along, if you'd like.
