...genuine gratitude for the Bear Blog community.
On Wednesday morning, I hit publish on a post about a jarring anonymous message I received, responded to a couple comments in my guestbook, and logged out.
When I logged back in that afternoon, I was blown away. In my guestbook and my inbox was an absolute deluge of kind, supportive, encouraging messages.
Corey, I just HAD to write to say hello and perhaps offer a small antidote to that awful message. I enjoy reading your positive posts, thank you for being you! — Constance
I think people making comments at all is testament to the fact that you are writing words that mean something to people. And that, my fellow blogger, is pretty cool. Haters gonna hate. Write on! — Emma
Saw your recent post on the hate mail you got. Wanted to counter it a little with some nice mail! Hope you're doing well and as always love the blog! — Will
For every one person who tears you down, there are twelve waiting to lift you up. Keep writing. — Cathy
May a 2000-lb manatee sit on those who leave cruel comments in people's guestbooks. (•(◦◦)•) — Manatee
I knew the Bear Blog community was special, but man...
I am completely awed by the warmth and thoughtfulness of the people here. This little corner of the internet is full to bursting with the most creative, fiercely protective, big-hearted humans, and I'm beyond grateful to have found it.
Thank you to everyone who reached out—it honestly, sincerely means so much. And to you, Herman, for, well, you know...
That's probably enough sap from me for one day...but truly, thank you.
(Web hug.)
Corey
P.S. For more sweet notes, take a gander at my guestbook.
P.P.S. Of course my middle school girlfriend Megan (the only person in my offline life to know about this blog) swooped in with a silly note and a rom-com GIF:
