...more favorite Bear Blog finds!
I've been on Bear Blog for a full month now, and between the thoughtful recommendations sent my way after my first favorites post and my own lucky Discovery feed clicks, my link list is overflowing again—which means it's time to share more faves!
Light your favorite scented candle, pull up a comfy chair, and enjoy some wonderful blog-stuffs:
"sunday" from Ly's blog
I adore the drawings at the top of every Ly post, especially this tender, dreamy one—and her writing is just as lovely ("past and future come visit me on sunday mornings, each time with a different air"). Secret wish: having her draw a little cartoon for one of my posts."An honest attempt at transparency" from Slowed Shutter
Hooked from the opening lines: "I'm 34 years old. I've been married and subsequently divorced. I've been homeless. I've walked on the Great Wall of China." The writer's candid reflection on burnout, yearning for a "grand simplifying," and trying to stay genuine in the age of short-form everything really resonated with me."My daughter at ninety days: Patron of the arts" from Abhinandan Sridhar
Come for the comedy ("It's 7:20 in the morning and Aranya, all of three months old, is asleep beside me. Moments ago, she farted, made a sad face, and looked around in abject hopelessness."), stay for the big-hearted new-dad reflections ("I have a vision of her as a young woman. She's tinkering on a grand piano to find a tune. At some point, she gets stuck and she curses loudly."). What a sweet, touching piece of writing."How to talk to a baby" from Minsuk Kang
Another parenting post, because I couldn't not. "Having a hard time interacting with a baby? Try these:" followed by 10 topics to discuss with said baby. Deadpan, poignant, and ultimately disarming—especially the ending line, which I won't spoil here."30-year-old grandmas" from Tadaima.
"Young people have the rest of their lives to be old. Why start early?" the author's doctor dad told her. This spirited rant—sparked by a Nicole Kidman quote—made me think about my own aging (and raves).
Plus a few whole blogs I've been loving:
anymore///anyways
Anna's favorite Dum-Dums flavor is the mystery one—which tells you everything you need to know about this delightfully offbeat blog.Pretend Typewriter
I'm obsessed with Peige's digital "mind palace"—there's so much to explore that I feel I haven't scratched the surface!Aishwarya Goel
How gentle and inviting is this homepage with its miniature sunlit cafe diorama and "last seen" coffee shop stamp?! Also, she's a fellow San Franciscan! (Hello neighbor, if you're seeing this!)behind the lens
I'm a sucker for an oft-updated "Currently" page, and the interactive web design on this site is incredible...go ahead, hover over an image, I dare you. This one really pops!Field Notes
I enjoy everything about this blog: the writing, the photography, and the simplicity. Also: "If BearBlog were a guy, I'd tell him he's a good friend, because he'd be the kind of guy who wouldn't realize how good he was." Couldn't agree more. :)
If you end up enjoying any of these, make someone's day and let them know!
What else should I be reading? Send me some links, even if they're from your own blog! I'll add a few below in tomorrow's update.
