...how to ruin a perfectly good sunset photo.

I was scrolling through my camera roll yesterday and found this photo my friend Peter took earlier this year at Ocean Beach.

A person attempting a roundoff on Ocean Beach at sunset while a friend watches.

He was trying to capture a serene moment in nature (for his Instagram Stories, probably) right as I was trying to prove to Damir and Terence that I could still do a roundoff. (Spoiler: I can! Sort of. It counted, alright?) The result was this silly but gorgeous photo of my legs flying through the air next to a beautiful setting sun while Damir watches me skeptically, hands on hips.

I love it so much.

It also reminds me that this was one of those perfect, easy evenings—burritos on a giant blanket, bare feet in the frigid Pacific surf, and the four of us laughing and teasing each other as we tossed around a stray football we found half-buried in the sand.

Even though—or maybe especially because—I ruined Peter's sunset shot, seeing this picture makes me really happy.
