...voiceless and millennial high.
Michelle Branch played the Castro Theatre last night. There's nothing quite like scream-singing the soundtrack to your middle school years in your all-time favorite venue with 1,200 of your millennial besties after a few too many Sprees. My throat isn't loving my choices right now, but my soul is ridin' high.
The opening act was a singer named SASAMI—an absolute effing performer if ever there was one, a punk-rock-pop-girl-princess-anime-band-nerd-yogi, all jerky, quirky head movements, randomly-timed body bends, and between-song quips that I couldn't really hear but lapped up anyway. Plus, at one point she busted out/played a French horn! A true ARTEEST! After her set I thought: AI could never make that, which is all I'm really looking for anymore.
Following the show, Damir, Ryo, Terence, and I went out into the neighborhood to carouse, first to Toad Hall, then 440. I think I can officially say I'm no longer a bar person. They're loud, crowded, and smell like a urine pie fresh outta the oven. We disbanded around 12:30 and I was oh-so-happy to be at the kitchen island eating leftover pesto pasta and reading my book shortly thereafter.
Was anyone ever so 42?
